He originally dismissed the weapon as a novelty, but he soon learned that the weapon wiped out the Takeda cavalry. It was during this time that he learned of a new weapon that was said to be changing the way wars were being fought, a rifle. Leaving the Urakami Clan, Mitsurugi continued to fight in every war in the land as a mercenary. Mitsurugi's only desire, however, was a worthy opponent. He received many military commendations and reached the rank of officer. Some said that he would mow down foes like fields of wheat. This is when he decided to take the name "Mitsurugi." Mitsurugi was a powerful force on the battlefield. However, after many years of seeing his home ravaged by war, he decided to become a samurai.
